Sarah begins Inviting Reality

This painting, Invitation, came before, during, and after Arts Week at Dallas Theological Seminary this year.

Dr.Esther Meek introduced me to new ways of knowing and the beauty of Covenant Epistemology.

Artist Letitia Huckaby showed me what a woman’s got and the goodness of people and artefacts being embodied in a visual art.

This next painting, Pledge, is born out of Meeks idea that in Covenant Epistimology we must love in order to know. We “pledge ourselves to the unknown” like two partners entering a marriage, who have a limited understanding and experience of each other that the realities of married life will usher them into. You pledge yourself to all that experience offers and demands, hard times, vulnerability, and joy.

Finally, the last painting, Gaze of the Beloved, was elicited by the idea that as a child grows under the loving gaze of a mother, so we also grow in the loving gaze of that ultimate Reality that is God. As infants we are born and somebody catches us and loves us. In the loving gaze of another person, we find who we are.
